It's management screen is very good. And it's DHTML syntax seems very simple. I've used FrontPage server, and it was not quite as nice. frontpage, ick! the zope support page says theres an efnet channel for zope i just checked, either noone there, or the svr im using is split Yes, I don't believe it did dynamic content either... and it was slow. Not much going for it, other than ISP's set it up to allow newbies to edit their pages. perhaps u could assist in starting a opn #zope ;) Heheh ok I'll do that 08:50am -:- kevin [kevin@199.103.210.125] has joined #tunes I guess QZ isn't here right now... sorry kevin kevin: try efnet oh well... Anyone have OSKIT experinece Some on unix programming, functional programming, threads, ML, Lisp, and a printout of the current OSKIT draft. =P hmm LISP i've only been exposed to lisp while playing Abuse the game I am thinking of programming the protoype in lisp. Alonzo: have you read through "OS: Design and Implementation"? =\ I read many books on that subject. And I have a coppy of that book. I HAVE DESIGNED MY OS!!!! I just need to figure out how to programm it now. so when are you going to start producing some code :P As soon as I finish my current pile of programming books and learn LISP (which is what I am currently planning to do{ 05:20pm -:- NetSplit: lackey.openprojects.net split from devlin.openprojects.net [05:25pm] -:- BitchX+Deb1an: Press Ctrl-F to see who left Ctrl-E to change to [lackey.openprojects.net] -:- Netjoined: lackey.openprojects.net devlin.openprojects.net -:- liar [brand@p0wer.qzx.com] has joined #Tunes hey liar i saw this posted on USENET 05:30pm what hheehe hah just kidding :) wow, my kernel has 326k of uncompressed text well my guess was close wow it's almost as large as BitchX its in asm aren't the servers supposed to be coded in a native BRiX language? eh? some language you created? what does the language have to do with a server? 05:40pm the user apps (servers i suppose too) you said will be made in some language you create brix does not have servers and it doesnt have user apps eheh here we go with the "object" talk again =) it has methods actually i like the idea of methods the methods are like libraries but they are not bound to a single file like functions in a library liar = that asshole qz? AlonzoTG: blow me fuck you fag liar's a better nick yes, easier to type abi: nickometer AlonzoTG 'AlonzoTG' is 18% lame, liar :) <_QZ> Alonzo has the spelling habits of a 2nd grader s_r: u can tell i didnt say that cuz i dont use caps well you said something like it abi: alonzo? i think alonzo is this virus free? abi: alonzotg? somebody said alonzotg was annoying with his greetings messages or probably a bot it was in abi abi: liar is QZ's attempt to be someone other than himself ...but liar is serious... haha * AlonzoTG/#tunes left clicks on liar btw if u guys want to make a good ui u need to read 'about face' it describes the brix ui * s_r/#tunes double clicks on liar and starts a BRiX kill method brix doesnt use double clicks i'm using Microsoft WinBRiX 05:50pm about face is ISBN 1-56884-322-4 what? you based your gui on something that exists? no the book describes a perfect ui, a visual user interface (VUI) instead of a gui or tui heh gui/tui are technology-centric whereas vui is user-centric sphere will actually implement that. =P in brix u have method objects, data objects and document objects i was thinking of implementing messages as waiting threads that wait for IPC and then act on them (servers) a document object is the kewlest part of brix and makes its ui so powerful but now i realize that "methods" is a good idea too i could just start threads that handle the messages u have a text show method that renders text inside a view control, and the text document will creates a view control and any other controls that go around the view like scrollbars and cursor position, etc. when i open the text object from the object browser it will create a window and call the text document to create the view inside the window and then call the text show to render the text in that view plugins are a documents that has controls that call methods and u can embed the plugin document into something like the text document or have it popup as a window u can also pull controls out of documents and embed them in other documents it just gives the user complete control over the ui u can move everything around to be where u can use it the fastest liar are "methods" your own idea? u can modify controls to work the way u work, and all without editing any source code methods are an OOP thing i think i'll use methods in my OS, is that ok with you? 06:00pm but using them in an OS is all my idea if u can figure out howto use them then go ahead om? om is, like, in hinduism, a word of affirmation or assent intoned as part of a mantra or as a symbolic mystical utterance during meditation om =| but u will have to call yer os a brix clone since that is all it will be liar: but my OS is much more... this is the only idea i'm borrowing from you Liar: U use BEos now, get the fuck out of here isn't there a difference between OS and UI ? yes schmoce But my desire is to have a GUI that is completely and nearly perfectly isomorphic with the system it represents. -:- hcf [nef@me-portland-us232.javanet.com] has joined #tunes 06:10pm Alonzo: what's your OS design well, sphere! I'm going to write a sphere! =P AlonzoTG: r u really? or it just fun to say that well the spherical form is the one I have chosen to use as a model of my system. k, its chosen, now do something w/ it I find it much easier to think about the configruation of the channels inside of the sphere than in terms of pointers and arrays... =\ Anyway...
