Hey, can you send me a binary of clementine? you still did not read your email...I already gave you one oh :) what is this idea of object/functions? umm, lemme clear my head. ωνω binEng [bineng@dialup49-4-32.swipnet.se] has joined #tunes hello bineng hi How come there is absolutely no traffic on the mlist? tril: One day I was thinking how constructors & destructors (as in C++) probably aren't necessary.. hi binEng. which mlist? tcn: Fare uses the terms constructor/destructor very differently from their meaning in C++ Tril: any his use is from algebra theory in mathematics 10:40am tril: Actually, I wanted to turn functions and variables into objects, not objects into functions, but the result is the same I hope people stop posting and get to work :) I know I have better things to do than chat all day through email. tril: hell yeah Tril; like what tcn: I don't understand what "objects into functions" would be, exactly.. tril: You'll see when I write it ;) binEng: like writing those papers you wanted on the page... ic commenting on Fare's article... what article? bE: Fare wrote an article for a French conference on free software Jan 25, and finally translated it to English and is asking for comments. If I simply get back to work, it'll be finished soon It's about metaprogramming. url? binEng: if you want to read it, go to Fare's directory on bespin after you get your account and read it with "less". Or you can convert it to some other format, if you can I don't think you told me what login you wanted yet. hey tril, how's the project list? Hmm, looks like Fare created an account for someone tcn: ah haven't worked on it since Thursday hehe tcn: if you want to help, try creating the same account again, see if it complains that it already exists. (it should) Well, I'm gonna get outta winblows and start Linux, and try clementine.. I don't think caps are a good idea on a Unix system would you mind having all lower-case login? that's fine 10:50am ωνω SignOff tcn: #TUNES (Leaving) where do you want the new web pages to reside (Url-wise)? they will finally reside in the root, but while developing them, they could be in /new/ or something... ωνω SignOff Tril: #TUNES (Ping timeout for Tril[ppp17.whatcom.pacificrim.net]) ωνω Tril [root@xws019.xtrn03.wwu.edu] has joined #Tunes ROOT???? brb ωνω SignOff Tril: #TUNES (Tril has no reason) ωνω Tril [dem@xws019.xtrn03.wwu.edu] has joined #tunes tril: ok, I'm in ahh.. ftp.. are you looking for fare's document? among other things 11:00am I think the file is /users/fare/fare/cnet/ll99/mpfas.tex ωνω macgyver [macgyver@bjas1-p15.telepac.pt] has joined #tunes Hi, all!! hi macgyver did you find your problem with the LOCK prefix? ωνω tcn [tcn@cci-209150250108.clarityconnect.net] has joined #tunes Tril, hi!! wb tcn I sent ya some mail Tril The PC EMULATOR, is really great !! oui I it working very well!! I am testing my OS with it, it runs yet in PMODE !! great! is very good for debugging !! Tril, you have it installed on your linux system ?? No, I have never installed bochs... not yet brb, trying clementine I'm gonna try clementine in bochs clementine said my 486 had 1976 MB memory, and died :) tcn: I don't think you should give it up too fast... that much memory must be great :) 11:10am My mom's computer seems to have 3775 MB of memory for the first time. still doesn't work tcn you want to try my OS 1.44 FILE on it ?? What can I use to read .tex files for "real"? LaTeX tcn: have you used latex? in bochs, clementine reports 16 MB (which is right), but still crashes after showing ".." (no heart symbol) tril: nope I never got a .. me neither tcn you want to try my OS 1.44 FILE on it ?? Now that I have a good modem, maybe I can download latex in a reasonable amount of time mac: ok mac: don't send me the whole 1.44M image though! ok tcn: your boot image worked as you said tril: cool tril: where do the html files I upload land? (url) and where can I get LaTeX? send tcn test.144 binEng: if you put in ~/html, they are in www2.tunes.org/~bineng/ how i can send the file, tcn ?? bineng: metalab.unc.edu or tsx-11.mit.edu 11:20am mac: /dcc send tcn test.144 I dont' remember the cmdline!! mac: Hey, I gotta get off the phone, do it later later ωνω SignOff tcn: #TUNES (Leaving) Do I have to change the permission of the files too? binEng: make sure it's world readable, and it'll be ok umm ok, remind me how to do that ls -l, it should look like rw-r--r-- the third r-- means world can read oups it should already say that but if not type chmod o+r filename ok, it is world readable, but I still can't access it throu the www binEng: you need to set your home directory to be executable by world. chmod 711 ~ that allows them to cd through it π binEng/#tunes discovers he has absolutely no experience with unix then it should work 11:30am ok, it works. tnx binEng: do you want me to set it so any tunes member can also write that directory? We could just use your html/ for working on the new page for now. ok any one here have some knowledge about ASM INLINE in GCC ?? not me some one ?? I think everyone uses NASM ωνω SignOff binEng: #TUNES (bbl) tcn: I'm going to try recompiling clementine with the latest binutils. binutils are compiling now I use it too and have the protected mode switch good... but I want to make the 32-Bit protected Mode Kernel in GCC!! well, I don't know how to do that, you might want to ask in another channel like #linpeople or something. and the variables aren't swapped into inline statements 11:40am Where is the GNU site?? http://www.gnu.org/server/list-mirrors.html thanks gcc docs ?? others than GCC HOWTO !! 11:50am ωνω tcn [tcn@cci-209150250099.clarityconnect.net] has joined #tunes yes, you can find GNU docs . they have links to it on the gnu site. What's IA32? tril, clementine worked on my pentium IA32 is Intel Architecture 32-bit I compiled it on a pentium. Maybe it somehow didn't use 486 code because of that. I think it's just buggy :) I bet when it detects too much memory, it screws up the page tables, and nothing works ωνω binEng [bineng@dialup153-1-14.swipnet.se] has joined #tunes on the pentium, did it print the correct amount of memory at the beginning? That part went by too fast, before my monitor could sync tcn: Try ~tcn/fdimage.new I just compiled it with the later version of binutils tril: chown tcn fdimage.new ;) OK...done firing up the 486... Same thing as before :( oh well, between like 4 prototypes, we'll get it right lesse, there's brix, clementine, KUT, retro (mine)... didn't work Can you think of any other "tunes prototypes" besides those 4? π Tril/#tunes laughs at the notion of brix as a tunes prototype well, brix is similar.. it's just that nobody's seen it :) low level ones , no. but I like TML, prism, and Arrow from what I know so far (which is not much). tml? 12:00pm ωνω SignOff macgyver: #TUNES (macgyver) It's a working metatranslator.. but I don't understand how to use it. If you want a copy, you can e-mail Thomas M. Farrelly . It has the same distribution restrictions as clementine gotta go no docs, but he said he'd answer questions about it later bineng I haven't had time to come up with any yet. bye!! ωνω SignOff binEng: #TUNES (later) I should just focus on my own project for now. I'm feeling wide awake.. I'm gonna sign off, and go write that v86 handler. ..and promptly fall asleep trying ;) 9812/msg0004.html is the start of the thread about it sorry, 00004 ok there was more of a thread, but it was private yeah time to logoff and do something. adios ωνω SignOff tcn: #TUNES (Leaving) hey, what did you do in Clementine? err ωνω SignOff Tril: #TUNES (Tril has no reason) 12:10pm !lilo:*!
